Schools are back in session, the weather's starting to cool and Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back in season so without further ado here is my Fall Movie Preview for September - December 2019.
It: Chapter Two
Release: September 6th, 2019

It: Chapter One was a huge success and we're finally getting the anticipated sequel. Set 27 years after the first part, Chapter Two will see the Losers reunite in Derry to take down the evil clown Pennywise. The sequel will introduce us to an all-new cast portraying the Losers Club, featuring big actors like James McAvoy (X-Men, Split), Jessica Chastain (Molly's Game), Bill Hader (Barry) and Isiah Mustafa (Old Spice commercials). Not to worry as the young Losers will still be in the film through flashbacks and Bill Skarsgard will continue to portray the sinister Pennywise.
War
Release: October 2nd, 2019

Being the only Bollywood movie on this list is saying something. War is set to be a battle between ex-soldier (Hrithik Roshan) and his former mentee (Tiger Shroff), two of the best dancers and action actors in Bollywood. The movie is set to be packed with action and daring stunts as well as a dance battle between the two men to perhaps decide who's the better dancer in Bollywood.
Joker
Release: October 4th, 2019

Todd Phillips' origin story of one of the Dark Knight's greatest villains will tell the story of failed comedian Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) as he begins his slow descent into madness. And if the trailers are any indication of what the film will be like it's definitely worth a watch. Plus Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal looks good enough to rival Heath Ledger's performance.
The Addams Family
Release: October 11th, 2019

With a great cast featuring the voices of Charlize Theron, Oscar Isaac, Nick Kroll, Finn Wolfhard, etc. this is set to be a great family-friendly Halloween film, as Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester and Grandma prepare to host their creepier relatives for a family event. Unfortunately, a TV personality Margaux Needler wants to sell the Addams' spooky hilltop mansion to fulfill her dream of selling all the houses in the neighbourhood.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
Release: October 18th, 2019

Five years later Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning), now Queen, rules the Moors. Humans still fear her godmother Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) who comes to celebrate Aurora's upcoming wedding to Prince Phillip. Maleficent discovers that Aurora's future mother-in-law (Michelle Pfeiffer) is planning to destroy all the fairies of the land so she teams up with an experienced warrior (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and his fellow outcasts to stop the evil Queen.
Zombieland: Double Tap
Release: October 18th, 2019

After ten years we're finally getting a sequel to one of the funniest zombie apocalypse films. Zombie slayers Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) square off against the newly evolved undead, fellow survivors and their snarky makeshift family.
Jojo Rabbit
Release: October 18th, 2019

Taika Waititi's black comedy, anti-hate satire tells the story of a lonely German boy, Jojo, whose worldview is turned upside down when he discovers that his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is secretly anti-Nazi and is housing a young Jewish girl. This forces Jojo to confront his ideology. But he's not alone as he has his imaginary friend, an idiotic version of Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi).
Terminator: Dark Fate
Release: November 1st, 2019

Just like Halloween last year, Terminator 6 will be the sequel to the best film in the series, ie Terminator 2, making all the other sequels non-canon. Set 27 years after Judgement Day, a new modified Terminator (Gabriel Luna) is sent from the future by Skynet to kill Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) and a hybrid cyborg human (Mckenzie Davis). Joined by Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and the original Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) they will fight for the future.
The Irishman
Release: November 1st, 2019

Just a heads up that this movie will be releasing on Netflix unlike all the other movies on this list which will be releasing in theatres. Directed by Martin Scorsese, The Irishman tells the story of mob hitman Frank Sheeran (Robert De Niro) who takes down labour leader and longtime friend Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino).
Doctor Sleep
Release: November 8th, 2019

Based on Stephen King's critically acclaimed sequel to The Shining, the movie follows an adult Danny Torrence (Ewan McGregor) who's still traumatized by his experience at the Overlook Hotel as a child. His peaceful life is shaken when he meets Abra Stone (Kyliegh Curran), a teenage girl who shares his ability to "shine." They reluctantly team up to face off The True Knot, a cult that feeds on the shine of young kids.
Frozen 2
Release: November 22nd, 2019

Three years after the first film, Elsa begins hearing strange sounds coming from the north. She embarks on a journey, with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, beyond their homeland Arendelle to discover the origin of Elsa's powers and save their kingdom.
Jumanji: The Next Level
Release: December 13th, 2019

Spencer has secretly been working on the Jumanji video-game in his grandfather's basement. When his friends Fridge, Bethany and Martha visit and find the game running they decide to head back in to rescue Spencer while inadvertently pulling in Spencer's grandfather (Danny DeVito) and his friend Milo Walker (Danny Glover). This time Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is Danny DeVito's avatar, which is pretty cool. Karen Gillan is once again Martha's avatar but Kevin Hart is now Milo Walker's avatar, leaving Jack Black to be Fridge's avatar. The teens must help their elderly allies get used to their in-game characters so they can find Spencer and escape the broken game. Hopefully, it's as great as its 2017 prequel.
