Hey folks, here’s my review on Gemini Man. This has to have been the most forgettable film I’ve seen all year. Initially, this was to be a film produced by Disney directed by Tony Scott in 1997. Due to the lack of technology to create a younger CGI clone of the main character, the film was stuck in Development Hell for around 18 years.

But now in 2019 technology has come really far and it definitely shows in a lot of scenes. The younger CGI Will Smith looks mostly good in a lot of the scenes provided the scenes are shot in the dark. The one or two scenes where CGI Smith is out during day time, it is very distracting and strange to look at. The effects and action in this film are probably pretty good although it’s a real shame most of the action sequences are shot in the dark. There’s one action scene that stands out and looks pretty cool. The motorcycle chase is fantastic all the way until the end. The younger Will Smith uses the motorcycle’s front wheel to hit the older one in the face. It’s supposed to be cool but ends up looking rather comical. The motives for Clive Owen’s character in this film are very half-assed and feel unmemorable. The film makes it seem like both the Will Smiths are the same person with the same personality traits. Whilst it’d probably make sense that they have physical traits in common the film entirely ignores the factors defined by the upbringing of the younger one.

Regarding the performances in the film, there aren’t any noticeable standouts, although Will Smith does a pretty convincing job playing a younger version of himself.

My score for the film is 1.5/5
